Samuel Gurung is the founder of the Helping Hands Charitable Trust. In the early stage of the pioneering work, he had to go through very difficult times in the village. But the difficulties he has faced has given him compassion for the poor and rejected. When he had a vision to start Helping Hands, he donated his own land on which the whole project now stands.

He and his wife Elimit have a daughter in addition to the many children of the hostel. Despite many challenges his family and his team have faced living in a rural undeveloped village, with faith and hope in God, they have continued to grow and bless others.
