what is helping hands charitable trust (HHCT)?
A nonprofit organization founded in the year 1999 with a vision to serve and empower the poor and the underprivileged in the village of Sherpatar, Rai Gaon and it's rural sorrounding villages.
What makes us different?
With the general urbanization of population the rural and the remote villagers are always being overlooked.
Many charitable NGOs are also focused on the urban areas. The unique aspect of Helping Hands Charitable Trust (HHCT) is that it takes up the challenge of ministering (extending help) in the rural remote and poor villages where there is little access to moderns facilities and comfort.
Sherpatar Rai Gaon is a small village about 8 km below Lava (Alt,approx,2000 meter) a small town of Kalimpong district of West Bengal, India. At the foothills of the Himalayas, Sherpatar is in the thick jungle and forest on the side of a mountain overlooking vast tea gardens.
Charitable Hostel for the Underprivileged children:
A free hostel for the children whose parents are economically unable and lives in far remote villages. By providing free shelter,food, education and a healthy environment we aim to see the physical,emotional,intellectual & social development of these children.
Quality education for Underprivileged children:
Helping Hands Charitable Trust believes in quality Educational Right of every children including those living in distant remote villages, whose parents cannot afford to pay for their kids education. With an effort to bring Quality Education for these underprivileged children, HHCT has been running an English medium school "Good News Academy" since 2007. Many of the student including all our hostel children receive free education in our school. Along with academic we also provide quality extra co-curricular activities where children develop their personal skills and talents. Today Good News Academy has become one of the most reputed school in our area.
Shelter for Destitute:
HHCT also offers shelter of destitute and disabled. From the beginning of HHCT we have been taking care of people whose families have left them and some who have no one to take care from them because of their medical conditions. We provide for them a house to stay, food to eat, clothes to wear and place to belong where they live among people who love and care for them.
Socio-economic empowerment projects:
With an aim of encouraging and promoting a self sustained and responsible society HHCT conducts Socio-economic empowerment program for the villagers. General consulting and awareness are shared with the villagers regarding green house cultivation, chicken rearing, cardamom plantation,bee keeping, and animal husbandry, floricultural so that they could generate a stable income.
